ARDCO was a Distributor in the Dallas, Texas area in the 1950s. After WWII many fine quality figurines and other china or porcelain pieces were imported from Japan. Usually there is a label or sticker, which reads “ARDCO fine quality, Dallas, made in Japan.” I have not been able to find a history of this ARDCO company, which apparently is no longer in business. I believe that most of their pieces are from the 50s and perhaps 1960s.
#CP6-10 Large Nan Krider and Her Presidents Plate, 1958, 10 ½” diameter.
This collector plate is an award that reads, “Nan and her Presidents. A Thank You Remembrance for your part In making our beloved Nan Krider’s 25th Beauty Counselor Anniversary such a memorable one. March 1958.” Since the plate is the 25th anniversary plate the company would have been founded in 1933. The front of the plate has a picture of Nan Krider who was the founder of Beauty Counselor Cosmetics; designed for in-home parties/make-overs. The plates were given to high yield sales persons. One of their top products was called the "Dinner Party Pick-Up". It was a small vial of pink powder mixed with pink cream and spread on the face with a small spatula; let set 15 minutes and rinse with lukewarm water. The "design" between the pictures of the presidents is her name "Nan r-l & l-r." The information in bold green print was emailed to me recently by a lady named Scereta, whose grandmother was a Beauty consultant for Beauty Counselor Cosmetics for many years. Thank you Scereta. There is a 1 7/8” wide raised border on the plate with gold trim on both sides. There is a picture of a Mansion and photo type pictures of 3 men whom I assume have been presidents of the company. It is a large and attractive plate and might be of interest to beauty consultants and/or awards plate collectors. It is in Excellent condition.

#CP6- 4 Plate from Painting, "The Age of Innocence, Artist Sir Joshua Reynolds 1723-1792, with Beehive Mark, 8" diameter.
Vintage Plate.of a barefoot girl sitting on the ground. I remember seeing prints of this portrait in the 30s or 40s . It was very popular at that time along with "Pinkie" and "The Blue Boy". This sweet young girl is enjoying the Spring breeze and appears to be day dreaming. I believe this plate is by Hummel or Goebel because it has the blue 3 tier beehive mark on the back. The painting has a texture you can feel and a fringe like gold trim. There are two specks and a light line which look like slight mfg. imperfections. No chips, cracks or hairlines. The color and detail is fantastic. This is a wonderful plate to add to your vintage artist collection.
